Words

At the beginning of 2016 I decided to commit to a weekly challenge, I wanted to improve my lettering skills, try out new techniques and explore a theme, pushing through right to the end of the year to see where it would take me.

Some weeks have been easier than others. Some words I'm more proud of than others, and since I'm sharing them on Instagram that in itself is a challenge... to share the good is a lot easier than sharing the ones I'm not so happy with!

Choosing a word is fun.... sometimes there has been a definite "theme" to my week and so a word is obvious. My first ever word was "begin". After spending so long agonising and over-analysing how and where to start, I came to the conclusion that sometimes you just have to go for it! "BEGIN" was very apt.

This is a year long project and I'm just over a third of the way through. My hope is that through this process my style and ideas will develop, and that it will be inspiring as well as challenging.
