I love a sketchbook! It is a big part of the way I work. I notice that drawing almost every day,  inspires me, motivates me and feeds back into the other work I'm creating.

 

When I have been able, I have taken my sketchbook out and about to draw on location, when that hasn't been possible I have drawn from photo reference. Drawing people is another favourite thing to do, when I'm feeling brave I love to sit in a cafe with my sketchbook and people watch!

I have found that this has become an essential part of my creative process.

Work in progress...

I work in a variety of ways, but all my work begins with doodles and sketches using pencil and paper.

I particularly love mixed media and collage, using hand painted and recycled papers which are embellished with textures, patterns and decorative details. Often these are developed further digitally using either Procreate or Photoshop. I love the possibilities that working across these two different disciplines brings.
